Sweet fix!

I have been struggling to find a decent whole wheat (and) sugar free cake recipe forever. It seems that whenever you get one, you can't get the other. And my cake physics are lacking, because whenever I try to modify a recipe, I end up with a big pile of mush. WELL! Here is a website with a few cake recipes.

Applesauce Raisin Spice Cake

Ingredients
2 cups flour
½ cup raisins
1 cup unsweetened applesauce
2 tbsp liquid sweetener
1 tsp baking soda
2 eggs
½ cup cooking oil
½ tsp nutmeg
1 tsp vanilla
1 ½ tsp cinnamon
Fruit cocktail, drained
½ cup water

Method
Cook the raisins in water and allow it to cool. Add applesauce, eggs,liquid sweetener and oil; mix well. Sift together flour, baking soda, nutmeg, and cinnamon and stir the mixture. Finally add vanilla and bake in a 4 x 4 x 8 inch loaf pan at 350°F for 45 minutes or until golden brown.

Changes: I made this one the other day, and it was great - I left a comment on the site listing my modifications, but since it's not showing up right now, here's the scoop. I went without the raisins and fruit cocktail (of course!) and just added the 1/2+ cup water to compensate. I used whole wheat pastry flour. I took out 1/8 cup flour and added 1/8 cup hemp protein powder. Stevia powder also works instead of the liquid. (I also used 1 egg and 1 banana. Shh.)

Also, a great frosting alternative is a cup of yogurt mixed with a packet of stevia powder (and/or a little agave, if you really have a sweet tooth), vanilla extract, and a dash of spices. This also works GREAT as "syrup" for whole-wheat pancakes or cinnamon rolls. Melts all over in gooey deliciousness. MMM.
